  • Festivities of San Antonio 2014, Ibiza

A New Year and again with you all. From Hotel Orosol we hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones and hope this New Year 2014 brings lots of happiness to everyone.

This New Year from the blog of Hotel Orosol we’ll keep bringing you the most interesting ideas to make the most of San Antonio and Ibiza. But we’re not giving you any festivity break. The Christmas holidays have just finished and now we have to focus on the festivities of Sant Antoni de Portmany 2014. On January 17, San Antonio Abad.

That day is known in Spain as the day of the blessing of pets, also celebrated that day in San Antonio, in front of the town hall. This event like every year will be accompanied by demonstrations of traditional Ibiza folkloric dances (in Ibicenco Ball Pagès) and you can also try different typical Ibicenco sweets and pastries such as Buñuelos and Orelletes, and of course, accompanied with Ibiza peasant wine. All this, after mass and the procession.

The festivities of San Antonio Abad also give us the opportunity of enjoying many outdoor sporting, cultural and social activities and events.

Among these holiday festivities, which are becoming more popular every year, we can highlight the Flower Power Party, on Saturday January 11th, a classic, having a huge following among all the island of Ibiza residents. People dress with costumes for the occasion, live street music, every corner of town decorated… For having a great time! Also highlight “La Movida: 80’s and 90’s” another event you can’t miss if you want to dance and enjoy yourself all night. And not forgetting the fantastic annual Gymkhana held for the occasion of the celebrations. Lots of fun!

A good opportunity for greatly enjoying the village, its people and its traditions.

Lets keep enjoying all of what San Antonio and Ibiza offer…

See you next week! Molts d’Anys!
