The municipality of Sant Antoni de Portmany is a tourist spot that attracts thousands of visitors, especially young people from all over the world who come for Ibiza’s great atmosphere and nightlife. However, most of them fail to discover the charms and wonderful places that the region has to offer, such as its gorgeous bay, beautiful sunsets, rugged cliffs, small coves with turquoise waters and fields full of blossoming almond trees.
On the trip you will enjoy beautiful Mediterranean forests, cultivated fields of different shades, small whitewashed churches, the simple architecture of Ibizan white houses, blue coves and beautiful hidden places.
Outside the centre of Sant Antoni, there is an ancient cave, Ses Fontanelles, which houses a collection of cave paintings in a rugged area near Cala Salada beach. The extraordinary beauty of the area, which can be seen all along the north coast, must be seen on the tour. Another point of interest is the underground chapel of Saint Inés, situated along the road to the town of Santa Agnés, right beside the Sa Capella restaurant. According to the legend, a ship was about to sink with all its passengers on board. One of them, who was carrying a statue of the Virgin, promised to build her a chapel if they survived.
Although the best known place in the municipality of Sant Antoni is its bay, other important areas are the towns of Sant Rafael, the only place in Ibiza declared as an “Area of Artesanal Interest” and the town of Sant Mateu, with the best wine producing land of the island and Santa Agnés de Corona, exalted by its characteristic valley full of almond trees, it is nature in its purest state.
Sant Antoni de Portmany has many fabulous beaches along its coast. Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta are family-friendly, fine sandy beaches protected from the wind. Cala Gració and Cala Gracioneta are two beautiful coves linked by a short rock path that are very close to the town centre. Caló des Moro is a very popular beach for seeing the spectacular sunset. S´Arenal beach runs alongside the Seaside Promenade, which can be visited on a pleasant walking tour. You can also spend a lovely day at the beach in Cala Bassa, Cala Conta, Cala Tarida or Port des Torrent, which can be reached by car, bus or boat, departing daily from the town of Sant Antoni de Portmany.
