As you already know, our goal is to bring you every week through our blog interesting suggestions so you can get to know a little bit better the island of Ibiza so you can fully enjoy it. And today we have thought of something that you will surely enjoy, and is to spend a lovely day in our neighbour island, Formentera. You’ll be able to enjoy its crystal clear waters, its extent beaches of fine sand and its incredible sunsets. We highly recommend spending a day in Formentera.
Formentera is a must if you are spending a few days in Ibiza. Besides having the best beaches in the Mediterranean, it shelters many other appealing places, which we’ll show you next.
Both, from Ibiza town’s harbour as well as from San Antonio’s marina, you have many different Ferries which connect directly with Formentera’s harbour, La Savina. Its a very interesting boat ride, sailing through different islets and, on which sea bottom, there’s the major Posidonia meadows, declared a World Heritage. When you arrive to Formentera, at the port, you have a wide range of vehicle rentals: cars, motorcycles, quads, bicycles, etc.
Formentera has unique beaches, from the most quiet and relaxed to the ones with the most lively atmosphere, yet all of them unique and gorgeous. Some suggestions are Ses Salines, a nature reserve rich in fauna and flora. Illetes beach, just beautiful. Is an extensive unspoilt beach surrounded by sea at both sides and with fine white sand. As well, it has two of the most important restaurants in Formentera: Es Molí de Sal and Juan y Andrea. Cap de Barbaría, a very attractive cliff with a famous lighthouse and the beautiful Mediterranean sea in the background. Playa de Migjorn beach, a beautiful and clean crystal clear water beach, with sand dunes, forested areas and a few beach clubs and chiringuitos with lively atmospheres. Cala Saona, a very interesting beach, though not very big, the beach starts from a pinewood at the bottom of the mountains. Beautiful sunsets. Es Caló, a very small fishermen’s port with crystal clear water, white sand and fishermen’s huts. La Mola, a great cliff with incredible sea views, where the calmness and the silence just trap you. In the town of La Mola there’s an interesting craft market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
You’ll love all these places! You’ll love Formentera!
